    Hi Matthew,

I am heading to the shelter Sunday for Boston's adoption meeting. I am wondering, if you are there between now and then, and can possibly get your hands on a measuring tape... Could you get the measurements of the Shids we'd like to get to the States? I'll need in cm from toe to head, from toe to top of shoulders, from base of tail to base of neck, and end of tail to head. So 4 measurements. If you can get these, awesome! If not, it's ok ^^ I can on Sunday : ) Do you have photos of each of the pups, with their names to help me ID them? Thanks Matthew!

Red, JoJo, and Roger(the newest shid that I took pics of) are hopefully going to be going to foster homes in teh States. I lady that works w/ a Shih-Tzu rescue in Florida has already got fosters lined up for them.

I am very happy right now... but I am truly attached to them. To all the shids at the shelter to tell the truth..The lady who's coordinating this said that I would have first pick of the one that I help rescue. I'd take them all, but I know I can't have them. JoJo would be the one though.

My finders are crossed that this happens though.

    Donna, Matt, And Ms. Alvarez,

All sounds good. We must first inform KAPS' Dog Shelter Manager that theses dogs will go to the US, which I have asked that Matthew do in person. I think it will make things more clear. He will discuss with her which third dog is the best dog to also make the trip. Once all is ironed out with the shelter manager, we can then book the flight. I am asking a volunteer with legal experience to draw up the relinquishment forms, and we will require them from Fur Angels once they are ready.

The dogs have not received any vaccinations. KAPS relies entirely on donations. Being that Korea is sadly a country that does not understand animal welfare, their funding is quite low. As such, KAPS can only provide basic care to their many animals. Jojo and Red have been at KAPS for some time, indicating they are quite healthy and able to make the flight. The third pup selected by Matthew and the shelter manager must also be in good condition and have been at KAPS for some time to ensure his/her health.

Dogs imported to the US must receive a rabies vaccination 30 days prior to flight, however, there is a form on that page we can opt to do which will allow them to fly without having received it. If we opt to do this, then the form must be completed by Fur Angels. If we opt to have them first receive their rabies, then we must wait the 30 days and we would require that this cost also be covered.

Finally, after speaking again with Pet Airlines, our courier service, the cost is 1,100,000won plus the cost of two crate which is 140,000. The third crate, they are donating to us. The total then is 1,240,000won, which as of today is 1,103 USD. This cost does not include rabies, which I believe to be about 20,000won per shot.

Once Matthew discussed with KAPS shelter manager about the dogs flying to the States, I will email them to reconfirm and ask how they prefer to organize reimbursement for the flight. They do have a PayPal account, so that may be the easiest option.

Please let us know how you would like to proceed. Thank you,

    Katelin at KAPS

The effort to get some of my shiddie kids to the States is progressing. I am really getting mixed emotions. I so badly want them to finally have a loving home to live in, but they have been such a big part of my life here, I will severely miss them. If I am there when they fly out, I will no doubt have tears in my eyes.

Roger, will not be going because he has been adopted locally and I was hoping to add the shid I named Fluff to take his place. He may not be able to go, but I am hoping that he will. If not, I will no doubt find another to go.

When I came in I today, I didn't even recognize JoJo. Someone had groomed her. Me being so used to her being a curly loveable mop, I was almost in tears. She looked amazing. She's has always been beautiful to me, but she is shining right now.

After seeing JoJo looking good, I had to get Red ready to go too. I took him to the groomers 2 blocks and he was amazing. He was such a good boy. He wasn't too fond of getting his paws trimmed (he started playfully knawing on my hand, but not biting hard) and definitely wasn't happy when he got his anal glands expressed, but once he was done, he couldn't stop moving and wagging his tail. He is a true diamond in the rough.

Both got groomed a little earlier than I planned, but they both needed it. The groomer was in shock w/ Red. With him being in the shih cage in the back area of the shelter w/ 6 other dogs and other cages near by, he smelled more of urine than anything else. He and the other shids have the wooden platform to keep them off the floor and 2 cushions, but when the staff wash down the floors of the other cages, it goes everywhere sometimes and they just can't keep from having to walk through it. He's in a single cage right now just as JoJo has been.

I am both happy and sad about these two. They both stole my heart and are truly a big part of me. I wish I could keep them w/ Ben, but I can only have one shiddie.

I hope I can be there to see them off in March. God knows I'll lose it though.. Sad
